Lilacs & secrets on South Funenby Visit Faaborg
Lace up the hiking boots and let the pace slow down. With the South Funen Archipelago in the front yard and Svanninge Bakker in the back garden lies Faaborg, one of Denmark's oldest and most beautiful market towns. But Faaborg area is more than Funen's hollyhock. Because when May is at its peak, Lilac Land unfolds with a landscape that smells of spring and is swathed in shades of purple. On this 2-day tour of South Funen you will visit Syrenlandet and not least Geopark The South Funen Archipelago. With Arreskov lake, Håstrup Mountains and Hell's Cave, among others. This is an easy hike. You can walk many hours every day, but there is room to take several breaks along the way so that everyone can join — both those who walk fast and those who take the time. There is full catering and good beds along the way. DAY 1 (May 13)//Welcome to Syrenland Venue Faaborg at 09:00 From the meeting point at the port in Faaborg — there is a shared transport to Håstrup, from where our hike begins. Håstrup is popularly called Denmark's only mountain town — located in the middle of the South Funen mountain range. From Håstrup the tour goes over the Håstrup mountains and we climb the viewpoints Dronningeten and Trebjerg. We enjoy lunch at Trente Mølle. Now we are in the center of the Syrenland. It is in the area around Ny Stenderup and Gl. Stenderup that we will be surrounded by lilac fences and the heavy scent. We cross the road and walk north and east of Arreskov Lake, and come on the way to Corinth, passing Arreskov Castle, among other places. There's almost a state guarantee to experience sea eagles On the stretch. Today's walk ends in Corinth. In Corinth we will be accommodated in the newly renovated part of the Corinth Inn. The inn is the inn of the whole city, and after many years of disrepair - today can welcome us. We get the history of the inn — and a tour of the many plans and projects that the many enthusiasts and volunteers have for the building in the coming years. Dinner and fun. Number of km: 15.5 *Meals: * -/F/A Accommodation: Corinth Inn *DAY 2 (May 14) * After a nice breakfast, and equipped with a good packed lunch, we depart from Corinth in the direction of Gærup and south of Lake Arreskov. Arreskov Lake is the largest lake in Funen and covers 317 hectares. From its eastern shore emanates the Odense Å. Further over Sollerup Enge, where there are the remains of a rampart from the early Middle Ages. We follow Rislebækken into Sollerup forest going directly into Helvedes Hule, into a deep and beautiful gorge, zoned for untouched forest. From here we go through Svanninge Bjerge and climb Lerbjerg (the fourth highest point in Funen, 126 m above sea level) From here you have a great view of much of the archipelago. The area abounds with nature and cultural history that will be told. How did Arreskov Lake come to be, what was hidden in the hellhole and why does Lerbjerg ever shake? We are now onto the Øhavstien trail which we follow south over the Sundbakkerne hills with the amazing view of Faaborg and the Archipelago that meets us. Further along the old fjord — Sundsjön, and then we are back in Faaborg. *Number of km: * 14.5 *Meals: * M/F/-

City walk: Rudkøbing during the occupationby VisitLangeland
Rudkøbing during the occupation — city walk in historical traces A New Narrative of the War on Langeland For many years, the narrative has been that not much happened at Langeland during the occupation. But the reality was different. The war also left its mark here -- in everyday life, in the cityscape, and in the choices people had to make. On this city walk in Rudkøbing, the story unfolds, based on concrete places in the city where events took place and where traces can still be felt. Stories from the streets of Rudkøbing The tour goes through the cozy streets of Rudkøbing, where tales of blackout, rationing and air alarms come to life. Along the way, you will gain insight into both the small and big stories — from the challenges of daily life to dramatic events with connections to the rest of the country. The focus is also on the people from Langeland who were involved in the war — both on the Danish, German and Allied sides. Based on New Local History The urban walk is based on new knowledge and stories collected in the book about Langeland during the occupation. Here the picture of the island during the war is nuanced and a more vivid and realistic picture of the period is drawn. It gives a special depth to the trip, where places and stories are connected. Practical information The tour takes place on foot at a leisurely pace through Rudkøbing's town centre. The substrate is primarily cobblestone and asphalt, which can be uneven in some places. *Geopark Days in Geopark The South Funen Archipelago * The event is part of Geopark Days during the Ascension Festival, where we celebrate the UNESCO Global Geopark The South Funen Archipelago every year with a large, common folk celebration. Here you can take part in outdoor activities, taste local food and learn more about the nature, culture and geology of the area.
